Anatomy

The left member of the paired maxillae: it forms half of the upper jaw, the floor of the left orbit and that side of the mouth roof, hollows the left maxillary sinus and carries the upper left teeth on its alveolar margin.

Clinical notes

Left upper-tooth pain may actually originate from the adjacent maxillary sinusitis (worsening on tilting the head) — a classic source of diagnostic delay.
