Anatomy

The left inferior concha: a small independent bone on the left lateral nasal wall beneath the middle concha, covered by thick vascular mucosa that swells and decongests with the normal nasal cycle.

Clinical notes

Left-sided blockage that alternates with sleeping position is normal (nasal cycle); persistent obstruction suggests turbinate hypertrophy, septal deviation or polyps.
