The body’s longest vein, ascending the medial foot, leg and thigh to pierce the saphenous fascia (saphenous opening) into the femoral vein just below the pubic tubercle; its femoral saphenous bulb stores refluxing varicosities.

Chronic varicosities are treated by stripping or endovenous laser after duplex mapping, and its harvested segments graft coronary and peripheral arteries — the vascular surgeon’s suture conduit.
