Arises from the descending thoracic aorta or arch, traveling along the branching bronchial tree to provide nutritive oxygenated systemic arterial flow to the lung parenchyma.

Clinical notes

The predominant culprit vessel in life-threatening massive hemoptysis; therapeutically embolized via transcatheter bronchial artery embolization (BAE).
