Right adrenal gland (Glandula suprarenalis dextra)
Educational content only — not medical advice.
Anatomy
A pyramidal gland capping the upper pole of the right kidney behind the liver, in two glands-in-one: cortex (glomerulosa→aldosterone, fasciculata→cortisol, reticularis→androgens) and catecholamine medulla of neural crest origin, directly supplied by aortic and renal artery branches.
Clinical notes
Cortical tumours produce Cushing (moon face) or Conn (hypertension with hypokalaemia); medullary pheochromocytoma gives headache-sweating-palpitation spells, and right adrenalectomy is easier than left because the left vein drains long into the renal vein.

What is the role of the Right adrenal gland?

Why is the Right adrenal gland clinically important?
Cortical tumours produce Cushing (moon face) or Conn (hypertension with hypokalaemia); medullary pheochromocytoma gives headache-sweating-palpitation spells, and right adrenalectomy is easier than left because the left vein drains long into the renal vein.
